CCCXXI. A man must needs be plunged in bitter affliction when in his heart he means good, and yet is not regarded. I can never get rid of these cogitations, wishing I had never begun this business with the pope. So, too, I desire myself rather dead than to hear or see God’s Word and his servants condemned; but `tis the frailty of our nature to be thus discouraged.”
