“ An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, to authorise the Appropriation of a Supplementary Sum of Two hundred and Thirty-five thousand One hundred and Eleven Dollars and Ninety-three Cents to defray the Charges of the Year 1892. ”

“ Preamble.WHEREAS, it has been found that from the vicinity of the said Island to the mainland of China a facility is afforded to armed and predatory parties of landing in considerable numbers on the said Island of Hongkong: And whereas from the yet unformed state of the Colony a considerable Police force is not of sufficient ability to afford Her Majesty's Subjects resident thereon adequate protection. ”

“ All persons and their respective Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, and also the Executors, Administrators, and Assigns respectively of persons whose interest determine with their own deaths, shall have such or the same remedies at law and in equity for recovering such apportioned parts as aforesaid when payable (allowing proportionate parts of all just allowances) as they respectively would have had for recovering such entire portions as aforesaid if entitled thereto respectively ”

“ Aliens entitled to acquire and hold Lands in the Colony.I. That it shall be lawful for any Alien, and he or she is hereby declared entitled, by Grant, Conveyance, Lease, Assignment, or Bequest, or otherwise, to take, acquire, hold and possess, any Lands or other immoveable Property situated in this Island;And to sell, transfer, assign, or bequeath the same. ”

“ Chinese causes, with consent of Plaintiff and Defendant, may be referred for decision to Tepo of the District.VI. If any Person has a complaint against a Chinese he may apply for redress to the Tepo of the District, who shall use his best endeavour to obtain an amicable Settlement thereof. ”

“ It was created before 1899; or It was first published commercially within 75 years from the end of its creation year, and 50 years have passed since the end of the calendar year of its first commercial publication. ”

“ Auction duty of 21⁄2 per cent.9. And be it further enacted and ordained that the Governor in Council if he sees fit shall be empowered to levy an Auction duty of 21⁄2 per cent on all sales by Auction within this Colony. ”

“ This Ordinance may be cited for all purposes as The Apportionment Ordinance, 1886.
Rents, &c. to accrue from day to day, and be apportionable in respect of time [Ibid. s. 2.] 2. From and after the commencement of this Ordinance, all Rents, Annuities, Dividends, and other periodical Payments in the nature of income (whether reserved or made payable under an instrument in writing or otherwise) shall, like interest on money lent, be considered as accruing from day to day, and shall be apportionable in respect of time accordingly.
Apportioned part of rent, &c. ”

“ And all disputes as to qualification or the mode of election shall be determined by the Chief Magistrate.
Assessors to fix Salary of Tepo,V. The majority of Assessors may from time to time, not being oftener than once in the year, by petition to the Governor declare what Salary they consider it necessary that the Tepo should receive,Expense how to be defrayed. ”
