François Dumont (1688–1726) , a sculptor, best known for his figures in the church of Saint Sulpice, Paris, was the brother of the painter Jacques Dumont, [1] known as “le Romain” (1701–1781) , whose chief success was gained with a great allegorical composition for the Paris hôtel-de-ville in 1761. ”
