Anonymous, An abstract of the bloody massacre in Ireland (1800)
“ Many other Protestants, especially women and children, they pricked and stabbed with skeins, forks and swords, slashing, cutting and mangling them in their heads, but left them wallowing in their own blood, to languish, starve, and pine to death. The castle of Lisgoole, being set on fire by these merciless Papists, a woman leaped out at a window to save herself from burning, whom they presently murdered; many fled to vaults and cellars, where they were all murdered. ”
