Funeral of Canon Macdonnell (1902)
“ Layout 2The funeral of Canon Macdonnell took place on Saturday at Peterborough Cathedral. The body was met at the west door by the Dean and Chapter, honorary canons, and choir, Canon Clayton reading the opening sentences. The coffin was placed under the lantern tower, at the entrance to the choir. The Dean read the lesson. The hymn selected was "Peace, perfect peace," and as the funeral procession passed out of the north-east door Dr. Keeton played the "Dead March." The body was laid to rest at the foot of Archbishop Magee's grave and by the side of Mrs. Macdonnell, who died seven years ago. ”
