“ The House of Assembly as constituted for the purposes of the principal Act immediately prior to the commencement of any provision of section 17, shall continue to exist, and a person who is then a member of the House of Assembly, shall continue to be a member thereof, until the House of Assembly is dissolved in terms of the principal Act, whether by effluxion of time or otherwise. ”

“ The holder of the office of State President or Vice State President on 1 January 1981 shall be deemed to have been elected as such in terms of the provisions of the principal Act as amended by this Act. ”
