Richmond Whig, Outbreak at Harper's Ferry (1857)
“ Cary's company last night -- and we slightly incline to the opinion that Harper's Ferry will be captured, and the rebels put down, especially as the military from the surrounding country and Old Point, Baltimore Washington, and Alexandria, have been ordered to the scene of action. We think these are almost enough to put an end to the "war" during the course of the week -- provided all hands stand firm, as they no doubt will, with some exceptions. ”
