“ At the annual meeting of the County Medical Society, held in July, 65 members were present, and a resolution was passed adopting the Washingtonian pledge. The movement was one of great popularity, and it accomplished much good. Governor Bouck, who had been in attendance at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Hartwick Seminary, of which he was a member, stopped over night in Cooperstown at the Eagle Hotel. ≈ 64 Doct. John Russell, long a resident of this village, the father of Mrs. Judge Nelson, died the 2d of August, in the 71st year of his age. ”
