Woman of the Century — Anna Lukens (1893)
“ Miss Anna E. Broomall and Miss Anna Lukens led the line as the women passed out of the hospital grounds amid the jeers and insults of the male students, who followed them for some distance, throwing stones and mud at them. She was elected a member of Montgomery County Medical Society, in Morris- town, Pa., in the spring of 1870, soon after graduation. The society had never before elected a woman. ”
