Summary

Woman of the Century — Josephine Kipp (1893)

JOSEPHINE KIPP. KIPP, Mrs. Josephine, author, born in Brooklyn, N. Y., 27th March, 1845. Her father. Ten Eyck Sutphen, for many years a prominent New York merchant, was descended from an old Dutch family of colonial times, who originally came from the city of Zutphen, where traditions of the "Counts of Zutphen" still exist. In Mrs. Kipp's early childhood she developed a passion for music, which led her to devote to the art every moment that could be spared from more prosaic studies.
