“ Rebecca Rater, author, born in Indianapolis, Ind., 8th November, 1832. She is the daughter of Rev. Calvin W. Ruter. a well-known clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She passed her youth in New Albany and Indianapolis. She w.is educated in the Wesleyan Female College, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was graduated in 1850. She wrote much in youth, but allowed none of her productions to be published before she had grown to womanhood. ”
