סעיף י - כל חלי שהרופאים אומרים שהוא סכנה, אף על פי שהוא על הבשר מבחוץ, מחללין עליו את השבת. ואם רופא אחד אומר צריך ורופא אחד אומר אינו צריך, מחללין. ויש מי שאומר שאין צריך ממחה, דכל בני אדם חשובים ממחין קצת, וספק נפשות להקל. הגה: ויש אומרים דוקא ישראלים, אבל סתם אינם יהודים שאינן רופאין לא מחזקינן אותם כבקיאים (אסור והתר הארך) . מי שרוצים לאנסו שיעבר עברה גדולה, אין מחללין עליו השבת כדי להצילו (ועין לעיל סימן ש"ו) (בית יוסף בשם הרשב"א) . ”

סעיף כג - נותנין ספוג וחתיכות בגדים יבשים וחדשים שאינן לרפואה אלא כדי שלא יסרטו הבגדים את המכה, אבל אם היו כבר על המכה, אפלו ישנים שרי, דשוב אינם מרפאים.
Paragraph 24 - We put a leaf on a wound on Shabbat, because it is just to protect it, excluding grape leaves, which are for medical purposes. (We do not put a reed on a wound, because it heals (Tur) .) ”
