“ Was made a lieutenant into the Sabine sloop, Captain George Price, Dec. 23d, 1809; and commanded the boats of that vessel at the capture of three French privateers, each mounting two long four-pounders, with a complement of twenty-five men, lying at the anchorage of Chipiona, near Cadiz, May 26th, 1811. He subsequently served in the Sabine, under Captains William Wrottesley and William Hall, on the Newfoundland station. His promotion to the rank of commander took place July 22d, 1830. He is now an inspecting commander of the coast-guard. ”
