A. M. Williamson and C. N. Williamson The Princess of the Balcony (1913)

He stood until a turn of the path hid the Princess from him; then, raising his eyes, he saw at a small window above something that struck like a chill into his excited, pulsing blood. A man was looking down upon him, a man dressed all in black, with a lined, sallow face, from which fierce eyes shot hatred. In an instant Holstead knew Don Paolo, and remembered that this was a part of the d’Afflitto palace. Reading in his look jealousy, anger and vindictiveness, he flung back defiance and contempt. There was war between Don Paolo and the Honourable Jack Holstead.

A. M. Williamson and C. N. Williamson The House with the Twisted Chimneys… (1921)

Great Heligoland! The shock I got when—at that moment of all others, my eyes dazzled with a dream—I saw the real Princess Margaret! Somehow I blundered through the meeting with her and didn't utterly disgrace myself. But I made an excuse about taking a friend to a train, and bolted as soon as I could. I didn't come straight here. I went back to the window where I'd seen the face, the vision, the ghost, whatever it was. No one was there. A curtain was pulled across, And I remembered then that I'd always seen it covered. Say, princess, do you think I'm going mad, just when I hoped I was cured?

A. M. Williamson and C. N. Williamson A Real English Christmas with Lady Betty (1906)

We were indeed tired by two o'clock, and ate as if we'd been starving on a desert island for months. Molly looked radiant, with eyes like stars and cheeks like Christmas roses; and after luncheon, while we were having coffee in the hall and waiting to see the Yule log brought in, my cousin Loveland brought a chair close to mine.
“I say,” he whispered, “are any of the family millions going to swell that young lady's dot?”
“There are no family millions,” said I. “Jim found his.”
“Do you mean to say that Miss Wainwright isn't an heiress?”
