David Carnegie Andrew Agnew Protestant Exiles from France… (1886)

John Edward Dupuis was educated at the Military Academy, Woolwich, and admitted to the Royal Artillery as a Second Lieutenant on 13th February 1825, and became a First Lieutenant on 8th November 1827. Lieutenant Dupuis was with the Spanish Army from 1836 to 1838, and shared in the action of Hernani. He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 22nd July 1840, and continued to serve in that rank with the brevet rank of Major from 8th January 1847 to 22nd April 1853, when he became a Lieutenant-Colonel of Artillery.
