“ Richard Updyke Sherman died of Bright's disease, at his home, in New-Hartford, N. Y., yesterday. He was a native of Oneida County, and was born in 1819. He established The Rochester Evening Gazette in 1846, and helped establish The Utica Morning Herald in 1847. He was elected Clerk of the Assembly in 1851, and held the office continuously, with the exception of one year, until 1857, when he took his seat as Member of the Assembly. ”
