“ Any person to whom the provisions of section 1 of the Offices of Profit under the Republic Amendment Act, 1978, apply and who on 31 May 1979 is a member of the Senate or the House of Assembly or a provincial council, shall not by reason of the provisions of section 55 (d) of the Republic of South Africa Constitution Act, 1961 (Act No. 32 of 1961) , be disqualified from sitting as a member of the Senate or the House of Assembly or the provincial council in question, but not after 30 June 1979, if the provisions of the said section 55 (d) then apply to him. ”
