An American author and philanthropist, born in Boston. She lectured frequently on theological subjects, and on questions associated with the amelioration of conditions affecting woman, and was a founder of the Social Science Association, the constitution of which she framed. For many years she conducted a class in literature and morals at her home in Washington. With Mrs. Pauline Wright Davis she founded Una, a journal devoted to woman's rights, and the pioneer publication of its kind in Boston.
