“ Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18And Jesus said to him: Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, God. 19Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and mother. 20And he answering said to him: Teacher, all these I kept from my youth. 21And Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him: One thing thou lackest; go, sell whatever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven ”

“ Write, Happy are the dead who die in the Lord, henceforth; yea, says the Spirit, that they shall rest from their labors, for their works follow with them.
14And I saw, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sitting like to the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15And another angel came forth out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud: Put forth thy sickle, and reap; because the time to reap is come; because the harvest of the earth is ripe. ”

“ Is this the Son of David? 24But the Pharisees hearing it said: This man does not cast out the demons, except through Beelzebul, prince of the demons. 25And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand. 26And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? 27And if I through Beelzebul cast out the demons, through whom do your sons cast them out? ”

“ If any one will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24For whoever will save his life shall lose it; and whoever may lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it 25For what is a man profited, when he has gained the whole world, and lost or forfeited himself? 26For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his glory, and in that of the Father and of the holy angels. ”

“ I will give to him that thirsts, of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7He that overcomes shall inherit these things; and I will be to him a God, and he shall be to me a son. 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and defiled with abominations, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all the liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. ”

“ How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answering again says to them: Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 26And they were exceedingly amazed, saying among themselves: Who then can be saved? 27And Jesus, looking on them, says: With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible. ”

“ Men, brethren, what shall we do? 38And Peter said to them: Repent, and be each of you immersed, upon the name of Jesus Christ, unto remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall have called.
40And with many other words did he bear witness and exhort, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation. ”

“ IX. And passing along, he saw a man blind from his birth. 2And his disciples asked him, saying: Master, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind? 3Jesus answered: Neither this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 4I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. Night is coming, when none can work. 5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. ”

“ Therefore I say to you, take not thought for the life, what ye shall eat, nor for the body, what ye shall put on. 23The life is more than food, and the body than raiment. 24Consider the ravens, that they sow not nor reap; which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. How much better are ye than the birds! 25And which of you by taking thought can add a cubit to his stature25? 26If therefore ye can not do even that which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? ”

“ With what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you, and there shall be added to you. 25For he that has, to him shall be given; and he that has not, even what he has shall be taken from him.
26And he said: So is the kingdom of God, as when a man has cast the seed upon the earth, 27and sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows up, he knows not how. 28For the earth brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29But when the fruit permits, immediately he puts forth the sickle, because the harvest is come. ”

“ But if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? 8Already ye are filled full, already ye became rich, without us ye reigned as kings; and I would ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
9For I think that God set forth us the apostles last, as condemned to death; for we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 10We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised. ”

“ Thou shalt not commit adultery. 28But I say to you, that every one who looks on a woman, to lust after her, has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29And if thy right eye causes thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. 30And if thy right hand causes thee to offend, cut it off and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell. ”

“ Handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40And having said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them: Have ye here anything to eat? 42And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. 43And he took, and ate it before them. 44And he said to them: These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and psalms, concerning me. ”

“ Well, Teacher; thou saidst truly that he is one, and there is no other beside him; 33and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all the whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifices. 34And Jesus, seeing that he answered intelligently, said to him: Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared any longer to question him.
35And Jesus answering said, while teaching in the temple: How say the scribes that the Christ is son of David? ”

“ We piped to you, and ye danced not; we sang the lament to you, and ye wept not. 33For John the Immerser has come, neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say: He has a demon. 34The Son of man has come eating and drinking; and ye say: Behold a glutton, and a wine-drinker, a friend of publicans and sinners. 35But wisdom was justified on the part of all her children.
36And one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him. And entering into the house of the Pharisee, he reclined at table. ”

“ Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6And the tongue is a fire, that world of iniquity! The tongue among our members is that which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of life, and is set on fire by hell. 7For every nature of beasts and birds, of reptiles and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed, by the nature of man. 8But the tongue no man can tame ”

“ Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2If any one thinks that he knows anything, he has known nothing yet as he ought to know. 3But if any one loves God, the same is known by him.
4As concerning then the eating of the things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5For though there are gods so-called, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are gods many, and lords many) , 6yet to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. ”

“ Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become a habitation of demons, and a hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3Because all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth became rich out of the abundance of her luxury.
4And I heard another voice out of heaven, saying: Come out of her, my people, that ye partake not in her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5For her sins reached unto heaven, and God remembered her iniquities. ”

“ Thou that preachest, a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 22Thou that sayest, a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege22? 23Thou that makest thy boast in law, through the transgression of the law dishonorest thou God? 24For, the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, as it is written.
25For circumcision indeed profits, if thou keep the law; but if thou art a transgressor of law, thy circumcision has become uncircumcision. ”

“ For if a law had been given which is able to make alive, truly righteousness would have been of law. 22But the Scripture shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23But before faith came, we were guarded under law, shut up unto the faith which was to be revealed. 24So that the law has become our schoolmaster, unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But faith having come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26For ye are all sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. ”

“ If any one seems to be wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written: He that takes the wise in their craftiness. 20And again:
The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise,
That they are vain.
21So then, let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; 22whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours; 23and ye are Christ's, and Christ is God's. ”

“ There is a sin unto death; for that I do not say that he shall pray.
17All unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not unto death.
18We know that every one who has been begotten of God sins not; but he that was begotten of God keeps himself; and the evil one touches him not.
19We know that we are of God, and the whole world is lying in the evil one. 20And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us understanding, that we may know the True one; and we are in the True One, in his Son Jesus Christ. ”

“ Depart in peace, be warmed, and be filled, but ye give them not the things needful for the body, what does it profit? 17So also faith, if it has not works, is dead in itself. 18But some will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without the works, and I will show thee the faith by my works. 19Thou believest that God is one. Thou doest well; the demons also believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ”

“ Did not God choose the poor as to this world5 to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him? 6But ye dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and do not they drag you before the judgment-seats? 7Do not they blaspheme the worthy name by which ye are called?
8If indeed ye fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well. 9But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. ”
