United Nations, United Nations Emergency Force… (1961)
“ The introduction of the Caribou aircraft brought considerable change in the function of the unit. The greater payload of the Caribou (6,000 lbs.) as compared with the Dakota (3,000 lbs.) has meant a more efficient and economical vehicle for the operational tasks of the Force. It was found that the number of road convoys to Sharm el Shiekh, which have always been extremely hard on vehicles, could be reduced because the troop rotation and resupply could be undertaken just as economically by air. ”
