Franz Hunolt,  Hunolt Sermons/Volume 1 (1897)

“ Wherever the unhappy man turns on his bed of death, he finds nothing but pain and sorrow. If he looks at his friends, oh, what grief! he has to part from them. Good-bye, father, he says with sorrowful heart; good-bye, mother, dear children, husband, wife, sister, brother! I have looked at you for the last time; in a few moments all love and friendship will be at an end between us, and that forever. For I am going to hell, and if you go to heaven, oh, what a great chaos will be fixed between me and you! ”

Franz Hunolt,  Hunolt Sermons/Volume 12 (1895)

“ Without humility all our good works, all our holiness, are nothing. We may be as pious as we please, spend a long time in prayer, mortify ourselves as much as we can, but if humility is wanting all is worth nothing; we are building without a foundation, resting on sand, high trees without fruit, golden vessels that are empty; for the foundation, the kernel, the guardian, nay, as it were, the soul of all virtue and piety is humility alone. As the humble Augustine says: "He who does good works without humility carries dust in the wind." ”

“ Farewell, angels and heavenly spirits, you have left us! Farewell, you apostles, martyrs, confessors, virgins; we shall not see you any more for all eternity. Farewell, beautiful heaven, paradise of pleasure! you were created for us, and we in order to possess you; and now we have lost you forever! Fare well to you also, Mary, the Mother of God! Alas, we are shut out from the eyes of your motherly love for all eternity! Beautiful sunlight, farewell; you wilt never shine more for us; our dwelling is in everlasting darkness! Good-bye, earth, we are not worthy of you ”
