“ If the cave had been bare of ornament when we visited it the previous night it was now altogether different. Hundreds of torches flamed from brackets upon the wails, throw their ruddy glare upon the wails and ceiling, and sparkled like a million diamonds in the stalactites dependent from the roof. At the further end of the great cavern was a large and beautifully decorated triple throne, and opposite it, but half way down the hall, a smaller dais covered with a rich crimson cloth bordered with heavy bullion fringe. ”
