“ It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to appoint a fit and proper person to superintend and carry out the geological survey of the Colony and also to superintend the formation establishment and management of a public museum and laboratory to form part of the property of the institution hereinafter mentioned and if required so to do to perform such other duties as are hereinafter mentioned with such salary not exceeding the sum of eight hundred pounds per annum as to the Governor in Council shall seem meet. ”

“ May cease to be incorporated. 8. Any branch society may cease to be incorporated with the institute by not electing any governors pursuant to section seven of this Act.
Institute may receive grants. 9. ”
