Sun Yat-sen

Summary

Portrait of Sun Yat-sen Sun Yat-sen Letter to Mabel Cantlie (1908)

I think a Parliament cannot be so easily obtained unless the people of China is strongly enough to demand it by force, so I am working harder than ever to promote the cause of the people. To oppose the present Government to the bitter end will do more good to China than any compromising for if we once relax our pressure our Manchu rules will soon go back to their old way as before. If the Manchus can change into better well and good, if not force is the only resort for the people to vindicate their right.
