“ He practised his profession in Philadelphia, where lie was lecturer on physiology at the Medical institute, 1843; professor at Franklin medical college, 1845, and at Hampton Sidney college, Va., 1848-49. He settled in New York city in 1851 and was professor of the institutes and practice of medicine at the University of the city of New York, 1851, and of mental and nervous diseases at the Albany medical college, 1871-74. During his residence in Philadelphia he was physician to the Institution for the blind, and attending and consulting physician to the Philadelphia hospitals. ”
