Wilhelmina Stitch,  Where sunlight falls (1929)

“ She is not, like Spring, a vagrant, wand'ring, care-free, here and there. Easter has a field for sowing, Easter has her goal in sight, Lenten lilies all ablowing, glorify her day and night. 'Tis the heart that Easter's seeking. There she'll sow her precious seed. Hark! 'tis Easter sweetly speaking, "I have come for your great need." Heart that is bowed down with sorrow, tree that is now bare of leaf, wait with patience; for the morrow brings an end to winter's grief. Easter's such a gentle maiden, trees for her will bud again. Hearts with sorrow, heavy laden, are, by Easter, healed of pain. ”

Wilhelmina Stitch,  Silken threads (1927)

“ Life has no winter season, for this very sound good reason—one can always have the summer in one's heart!
APRIL, THE JESTER
Hark to April's merry laughter! Glad is she to reach this earth. Perhaps she'll weep a minute after—sorrow often follows mirth. Not to-day, though, will she sorrow; she's our Jester, queen of fun. Time enough to weep to-morrow, when her roguishness is done. Cap and bells is April wearing, Punchinello in her hand; jokes with Brother Wind she's sharing, mortals cannot understand. Oh! beware of April's laughter; trust her not, she is not true.

Wilhelmina Stitch,  Silver linings (1928)

“ And Memory sits there every day; she is the guardian of these wares. My heart, it often wends that way, to see this shop and how it fares. My heart peers through the window-pane with eyes like pools of smiles and tears, so glad and sad to see again the curios of bygone years. Says Memory, "O heart, draw near! Here is a little shining dream, and here a rippling song of cheer; and here, your childhood's fairy stream." An antique shop this Past of mine; its gems kept safe by Memory; each kind word heard, how they do shine, set in rare Fancy's filigree. ”
