“ Pioneer Clarkson Resident and Widely-Known Newspaper Man Dies Suddenly In His Sleep
It becomes our painful duty this week to chronicle the death of one with whom we had been closely bound. Father has gone to his eternal rest and all that now remains of him is his rememberance. ”

“ Two children were born to their union, Bessie and Vladislav, the daughter having proceeded her father in death in Omaha in the year of 1920.
The deceased was the first teacher of Bohemian school in Clarkson. He also became an ardent lodge worker and organized a number of local societies. ”

“ The past ten years he has been in very por health and the last three years, he had been bedfast and death comes to him as a great relief.
The deceased was born on November 11, 1853, in the Village of Iskovice, County of Tabor, Czechoslovakia. When a lad of fourteen years, he and his parents, brother John J., and sister, Josephine, migrated to this new world to share in its opportunities. Their first destination was in Chicago. His parents did not stay there long and proceeded further west, locating in Colfax county. ”

“ For eight years he was state representative of Colfax county. He was one of the founders of the Tabor church and layed the first brick in its foundation and is the last to survive all the other charter members. In the early days of our city, he also served as member of the village and school board and at all times took considerable interest in its welfare.
Mr. Sindelar was a successful business man, honest and upright in his dealings with his fellowmen. ”

“ Like all the pioneers of our county he had faced the hardships with determination to succeed and he was able to acquire a sufficiency of this world’s goods to insure him and his wife a comfortable old age. A notable coincident in Mr. Sindelar’s life is the date of February 11th. ”

“ He believed that all people were created alike and always lived up to these convictions.
Surviving are the widow and three sons, Anton and Otto, engaged in the printing business in Clarkson and publishers of The Colfax County Press, and Dr. V. L. Odvarka, dental surgeon, also of Clarkson. Besides his family, the deceased leaves a brother, Frank, living near Dodge, and a sister, Mrs. Rudolph Kuzelka, of Omaha, and two sisters and a brother residing in Czechoslovakia. ”

“ Petlach was named pastor of SS. Cyril & Methodius church of this city, and served faithfully in that capacity until July, 1946, when ill health forced him to give up his work among his people. He was succeeded by the present pastor, Rev. Clement C. Kubesh, who in the short time he has been pastor, has made the the impact of his labors and personality felt in both the church and community affairs.—Rev. Petlach served as pastor 58 years.
Rev. Petlach was everybody’s friend and he never let religion interfer with his friends of different faith, or non-church goers. ”

“ The deceased was a public-spirited man and the best years of his life had been devoted to social and fraternal work which will remain as a lasting monument to his memory. He advocated what he believed was right and above all he always aimed to be honest and considerate of others in all of his dealings. ”

“ We extend the bereaved family our sincere condolence.
