Litigation and delay are always the alternative to settlement, and whether that alternative is worth pursuing necessarily depends upon a reasoned judgment as to the probable outcome of litigation. The complaint voiced by counsel for the petitioner Committee to the trustee's report on the compromises, that 'this is a bare statement of conclusion,' seems equally applicable to the trial court's statement approving those compromises.
