Maryland General Assembly An act to incorporate the Washington County Rail Road Company (1853)

And be it enacted, That to continue the succession of the president and directors of said company, twelve directors shall be chosen annually, after notice as aforesaid, on the second Monday in January, in every year, by the stockholders of said company, and the directors or a majority of them, shall have power to appoint judges of elections, and to elect a president of said company from among the directors, and to allow him such compensation for his services as they may deem proper; President and directors to be chosen annually.

In case of disagreement, sheriff to summon jury of inquest. and before they act as such the sheriff shall administer to each of them an oath or affirmation, as the case may be, that he will justly and impartially value the damages which the owner or owners of said lands and materials will sustain by the use or occupation of the same, required by the company
