Constitution of the Republic of Poland… (1997)

The President of the Republic shall ensure observance of the Constitution, safeguard the sovereignty and security of the State as well as the inviolability and integrity of its territory. The President shall exercise his duties within the scope of and in accordance with the principles specified in the Constitution and statutes. Article 127 The President of the Republic shall be elected by the Nation, in universal, equal and direct elections, conducted by secret ballot. The President of the Republic shall be elected for a 5-year term of office and may be re-elected only for one more term.
