George Gillespie, A winding-sheet for the service-book (1726)
“ In the eighth Session of the General Assembly held in August 1590, King James VI. was present, where he praised God, That he was born in such a Time, as in the Time of the Light of the Gospel, to such a Place, as to be King of such a Kirk, the sincerest Kirk in the World. The Kirk of Geneva, said he, keepeth Pasch and Tule: What have they of them? They have no Institution. As for Our Neighbour Kirk in England, their Service is an evil-said Mass in English; they want nothing of the Mass but the Listings. ”
