How do women go back to work without having their kids full time in school? MS. PSAKI: Well, I will say one of the reasons that the President has put $130 billion of funding in his American Rescue Plan is because he knows that schools across the country need funding to satisfy some of the mitigation steps that are recommended in the CDC guidelines. I talked with him about this this morning and his concern, as you have raised, that this is deeply impacting women. We’re seeing that statistically with every week and every month of jobs numbers.

The National Academies of Sciences reported last week that a transition to a net-zero emissions economy could grow millions of jobs over the next decade.
And our plan — the President’s plan, which he’ll talk about today, will make historic investments in infrastructure — in the auto industry, in transit, in the power sector — creating millions of good union jobs, and in the process, also addressing the climate crisis head on.
