Brigham Young,
Journal of Discourses — Volume 14…
“ I believe that if the reins of power were in my hands to-day, I never would ask a man to be a Saint if he did not want to be; and I do not think I would persecute him if he worshiped a white dog, the sun, moon, or a graven image. But let us alone; let the kingdom of God alone that is all we want. If the principles of eternal life are not sufficient to win the hearts of the children of men, just take your course—the downward road. ”
