“ Eleven of the 34 have a daily or weekly column of Negro news, six have a daily or weekly page devoted to the Negro community, and all but four use pictures of Negroes to illustrate news or features. These facts disclose a significant change in attitudes of the press toward the Negro in the last decade. They also indicate that a new field for Negro professionals is opening in the Deep South—that of journalism. ”
