“ Subject to subsection (2) , any person who knowingly causes a computer to perform any function for the purpose of securing access without authority to any program or data held in any computer shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both. ”

“ The court before which a person is convicted of any offence under this Act may make an order against him for the payment by him of a sum to be fixed by the court by way of compensation to any person for any damage caused to his computer, program or data by the offence for which the sentence is passed. ”

“ For the purposes of subsections (1) and (2) , it shall be sufficient for a matter to be stated to the best of the knowledge and belief of the person stating it.
(4) Notwithstanding subsection (1) or (2) , a court may require oral evidence to be given of anything of which evidence could be given by a certificate under that subsection. ”
