Wycliffe's Bible — I. Corinþis (1380s)
“ For þe word of þe cros is folye soþli to men perischinge; forsoþ to hem þat ben maad saaf, þat is to seye, to vs, it is þe vertu of God. Soþli it is writun, I schal lese þe wysdom of wyse men, and I schal reproue þe prudence of prudent men. Where is þe wyse man? where is þe writere, or man of lawe? where is þe purchasour of þis world? Wher God haþ not maad þe wysdom of þis world foltisch, or fool. Forwhi for in þe wysdom of God þe world knew not God by wysdom, it pleside to God for to make men saaf bileuyng, by þe folie of prechinge. ”
