Þe which roos, and folewide his wijf; and comynge to þe man he seide to hym, Art þow þe which spak to þe womman? ”

“ And þe Lord feeryde Sisaram, and alle þe chaaris of hym, and al þe multytude, in þe mouþ of swerd, at þe siȝt of Barach, in so myche þat Sisara of þe chaar lepynge doun on his feet, fliȝ. And Barach pursuede þe fleynge chaaris and þe oost vnto þe see vnto Aroseþ of Gentilis; and al þe multitude of enemyes fellen doun vnto þe deeþ. Jahel þanne goon out in to aȝen comynge of Sisare, seide to hym, Com into me, my lord; ne drede þow. ”

And þere ben founden fyue and twenti þowsandis of Beniamyn, of men drawynge out swerd, biside þe dwellers of Gabaa, þat weren seuen hundryd moost myȝti men, so wiþ þe lift as wiþ þe riȝt fiȝtynge, and so wiþ slyngis stones at certeyn þrowynge, þat an heer forsoþe þei myȝten smyte, and in to noon oþer partie þe strook of þe stoon shulde be born a weye. ”

“ And þe Lord sente yn swerd in alle þe tentis, and þei kutten of hem seluen bi sleynge echon oþer, fleynge into Beþsaka, and bi þe cop of þe brenke, fro Elmonla into Thebbaþ. Þe men of Irael forsoþe criynge togidre, of Neptalym, and Aser, and al Manasse, pursueden Madian; and þe Lord ȝaf to þe puple of Yrael victory in þat day. And Gedeon sente messangers into al þe hil of Effraym, seiynge, Comiþ doun into aȝen metynge of Madian, and occupieþ þe watres vnto Beþhem and Jordan. And al Effraym criede, and forn occupiede þe watres and Jordan vnto Beþhara. ”

“ And so it is doon, þat on eiþer parti þei ben slayn of enemyes, ne þere was eny reste of men dyynge; and þei fellen, and ben þrowen down at þe eest coost of þe cytee of Gabaa. Forsoþe þere weren, þat in þe same place ben slayn, eiȝteen þousandis of men, al moost stronge fiȝters. Þe which þing whanne hadden seen þat leften of Beniamyn, þei flowen into wildirnes, and wenten to þe stoon, whos name is Remmon. ”

“ And so þei senten ten þousand moost stronge men, and comaundiden to hem, Goþ, and smitiþ þe dwellers of Jabis Galaad in mouþ of swerd, as wel wymmen as þe litil children of hem. And þis shal be, þat ȝe shulen kepe wel, alle of maal kynde and wymmen, þat han knowun men, sleeþ ”
