“ And it shal be, in þe day of offryng of þe Lord, Y shal visite vpon princes, and vpon sones of þe kyng, and vpon alle þat ben cloþid wiþ pilgrim, or straunge, cloþing. And Y shal visite vpon eche þat proudli entriþ vpon þe þreshfold in þat day, whiche fulfillen þe hous of þe Lord her God wiþ wickidnesse and gyle. And þer shal be in þat day, saiþ þe Lord, a voys of crye fro þe ȝate of fishis, and ȝoulynge fro þe secounde, or þat streete of Jerusalem, and grete contricioun fro litil hillis. ”

“ Niȝ is þe grete day of þe Lord, niȝ and swyft ful myche; þe voys of day of þe Lord bitter, a stronge man shal be in tribulacioun þere. Þe ilk day a day of wraþ, day of tribulacioun and anguysh, þe day of needynesse, or sorewe wiþ out coumfort, and myseisetee, or wretchidnesse, day of derknessis and myst, day of cloude and whirlwynde, day of trumpe and noyse vpon stronge cytees and vpon heeȝe corners. And Y shal truble men, and þei shuln walke as blynde, for to þe Lord þei han synned ”

“ Capitulum III. Wo! þou cytee, terrere, or stirere, to wraþe, and bouȝt aȝein culuer. It herde not þe voice, and resceyuede not disciplyne, or chastising; it tristinede not in þe Lord, it neiȝide not to hir God. ”
