“ Rabbeinu z"l said, by the world (people say) that a kosher person cannot commit a transgression, and if he commits a transgression he is not a kosher person. But by me (I say) the even a kosher person can also also fall into transgression, and when he stumbles he is still a kosher person. ”

“ One time Rabbeinu z"l told Moharnat: There will yet be such a thing, that you'll travel in a carriage of the rich. (Du vest nokh amal farin in a karete!) Moharnat was very afraid of this, lest he undergo the trial of being a mefursam/celebrity, God forbid. One time he was walking, and didn't have a carriage to get to the holy gravesite, so he went by foot. ”

“ Rabbeinu z"l said it in these words, "The main thing is the mental block." (Der ikar iz meniot haMoach.)
(And like one time someone told Rabbeinu z"l, 'I want to be a kosher person!' and he replied (Vilstu ober veln?) That is, Will you truly wish it? For if there is a strong will he will surely attain what he wants, only if he does not give up his strong will, for the main thing is the will. ”

“ In honor of the wedding came many guests, and they stayed there over Shabbat, and the city was very small. “ If the mitnagdim give a bit of space and are not fighting with all their might, pray to HKB"H. Rabbeinu said there's a rule: If the mitnagdim give a bit of space and are not fighting with all their might, pray to HKB"H. But if they don't give at all and fight with all their might, do what's in your power to do.
רבינו אמר יש כלל אם נותנים המתנגים קצת מקום ולא לוחמים בכל כוחם תתפלל להקב"ה אבל אם לא נותנים כלום ולוחמים בכל כוחם תעשה מה שבכוחך לעשות. ”

“ Rabbeinu z"l concluded: Poeple work for nothing, and and they eat for nothing. Where they work they don't eat, and where they eat they don't work. (Men arbet umzist, un men est umzist. Dart vu men arbet est men nit, un dart vu men est arbet men nit.)
ובאמצע הסעודה אמר: אמת כי עבדתי והתיגעתי, אבל זה כדאי (“אמת טאקי זיק אנגעהארעוועט, אבער עס איז כדאי") . אמר לו הגביר הנדיב: ידידי הטוב, היכן התיגעתם? אצלי הרי לא התיגעתם! מעשה מה'קארעטע' (כרכרה)
פעם אחת אמר רבנו ז"ל למוהרנ"ת: עוד יהיה כדבר הזה, שאתה תסע פעם בכרכרה של חשובים. (“דוא וועסט נאך אמאל פארין אין א קארעטע!”) ונתפחד מוהרנ"ת מזה מאד, שלא יהיה לו נסיון כזה של מפרסם, חס ושלום. פעם אחת הלך, ולא היתה לו עגלה לסע על הציון הקדוש, והלך רגלי. ”

“ Rabbeinu z"l said, when one is healthy he must do and do and do (that is, in serving H') . “ Shabbat is Shabbat and fish is fish. (Vi kumt Shabos tsi fish. Shabos iz Shabos in fish iz fish) . (Meaning, encouragement from Rabbeinu who holds that even if lacking something necessary, don't be discouraged; have vigor whatever you're still able.)
ספרו לפני רבינו ז"ל על הרה"צ ר' שלמה קרלינר ז"ל שאמר אם אין דגים בשבת השבת אינו שבת (“אז מען האט קיין פיש ניט אוף שבת איז דער שבת קיין שבת ניט") (כי הוא החמיר מאד בדגים על שבת) ומובא בבית אהרן שאמר אם אין דגים על שבת ידאג יותר ממה שכתוב בו ידאג כל השנה (היינו מקרה ביו"כ) ענה רבינו ז"ל ואמר: מה ענין דגים אצל שבת. שבת הוא שבת ודגים הוא דגים. ”

“ Rabbeinu z"l answered him: It'll be good, just don't be a shoteh/fool (Nur zalst kayn na'ar nit zayn) ; and he went his way.

בעת שנסע רבנו בהעלם ובהסתר, פעם אחת בא לאיזה כפר קודם תפילת שחרית, וביקש חדר להתפלל ובעל הבית הבין שזה איש פלא, וציוה למשרתו שיעשה איזו סעודה עבור רבנו ז"ל, ובעל הבית כיבד לרבנו ז"ל מאוד ואחר כך ערך את השולחן לרבנו ז"ל, ובעת הסעודה קיבל לפני רבנו ז"ל על מצבו ומצוקתו בפרנסתו.
והשיב לו רבנו ז"ל: שיהיה טוב, רק שלא יהיה שוטה (“נער זאלסט קיין נער ניט זיין") , ונסע לדרכו. ”

וסים רבנו ז"ל: כך הוא בהמפרסמים של שקר, שרואים שעושים להם כבוד כזה ואינם מבינים מפני מה, ומתבלבלים בדעתם אם באמת הם מפרסמים או זה חלום. ואם אמת הוא כך, מדוע אינם משיגים שום דבר? ומתישבים בדחק, שבמאת הם צדיקים, ומה שאינם משיגים – מפני ששום צדיק אינו משיג ויודע. ובזה פוגמים באמונת חכמים. ”

סיפרו לפני רבינו ז"ל שהרב הצדיק מוואלטישסק (שהי' מחותנו של רבינו ז"ל ) שאמר שארבעים שנה כבר כוסף ומשתוקק לעלות לא"י ואמר הרה"צ מחמעלניק ז"ל (שהי' ג"כ מחותנו של רבינו ז"ל) למה צריכים כ"כ לכסוף אם רוצכים ליסע רק פותחים (“הקאסע") התיבה שמונה המעות, ולוקחים מעות ונוסעים. ואמר רבינו ז"ל שזה יסע ויבא לא"י וזה לא כי העיקר הוא הרצון והכיסופין. ”
