Abraham Chazan

Summary

Abraham Chazan Kuntres haHosafoth

Rabbeinu z"l said if things happen to him and he gets in an uproar over it and says how it's bad for him, H"Y (the Attribute of Judgement) says, "That's called 'bad'? I'll show you what's called 'bad'!" God forbid, and he makes it worse for him, God forbid. Likewise if he then makes more uproar, God save us, it gets worse, God forbid. But when the man acknowledges to H"Y what he's going through and says "B"H, good," then H"Y says, "You call that good? I'll show you what good is like," then it goes better for him, and so forth and so on.

Rabbeinu z"l concluded: That's how it is with the mefursamim shel sheker (false celebrities) . For they see people give them such honor and they don't understand why, and they get confused whether they're celebrities or it's a dream. And if it's true, why do they not understand a thing? So they're pressed to conclude they are truly tzadikim, and whatever they don't understand, it's because no tzaddik understands and knows.

And one time Rashbi told her in these words, "Even I need this soul in this world." The Baal Shem Tov also came to her and told her how [severe] was the Opposition that this soul descend to the world, except that Rashbi toiled exceedingly and accomplished that this soul descend to this world.
