Abu Hamid al-Ghazālī,
Al-Ghazali letters to Nizamuddin Fakhrul Mulk
“ Those who are wise, above the material world and are called virtuous. There are but a few and live in every age. They are saved by faith and are guided by ever helping mercy. Those who do not know the truth but pretend to possess it, those who have the truth much upon their tongues, but deny it with their acts. They want to secure a high place in this world with the pretence of piety and holiness. Such wretched people are those who follow the dictates of worldly pleasures. They will eventually perish and seal their doom in the next world. An example will explain my point. ”
