AT THE CONSECRATION.
Bow down your body and soul in solemn adoration; make an act of faith in the real presence of your Saviour's body and blood, soul and divinity, under the sacramental veils. ”

“ Is any one sick among you, let him bring in the Priests of the Church, and let him pray over him, anointing him with oil, in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick man; and the Lord will lift him up, and if he be in sin, his sins shall be forgiven him." (St. James, v.)
By Thy infinite goodness, Jesus, through which Thou hast established this Holy Sacrament, I beseech Thee to purify me from my sins, defend me from the enemy, strengthen me in temptation, and give me a happy end; or, if it be profitable for my soul's salvation, restore me to my former health. ”

AT THE SECRETA.
I will go down, O just Judge of the living and the dead, I will go down in spirit to that dread place where Thy hand is heavy on Thy children, the heirs of Thy glory. There I will sigh and lament, I will unite my prayers to the sacrifice of Thy dear Son, that Thou mayest shorten their pains, and change their sufferings into consolation, their humiliation into glory. ”

“ Deliver us, we beseech Thee, O Lord, from all evils, past, present, and to come ; and by the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, and of all the saints, mercifully grant peace in our days, that by the assistance of Thy holy grace we may be always free from sin and secure from all disturbance. ”

“ Although there is no express commandment which makes it a mortal sin to be absent from Vespers, yet every good Catholic will make it his duty to attend when he can, and sec that his family are present also. We are commanded to sanctify the Lord's day, and the other Holy-days of obligation; but if a Catholic neglects the public service of the Church on Sunday afternoons, without any reasonable excuse, how can it be expected that he will apply himself to sanctify it in other ways? ”

Confirmation is a sacrament by which we receive the Holy Ghost, to make us strong and perfect Christians, and soldiers of Jesus Christ. ”
