“ But actually hayta lerosh pinah because this month will be father of all months, and do not think that the loftiness that will be in it in the future will be via flesh and blood which will not endure -- rather, "me'et Hashem hayta/from Hashem [shall be] ..." the loftiness of this month, and "...hi nifla't be`eineinu/it is wondrous in our eyes" -- divide the word in two and read it "B' `eineinu" i.e. with our two eyes of Tammuz and Av. ”

“ Also it is known what our Rabbis z"l wrote in Midrash Rabbah, that "me'od" is the yetzer har`a, and this is why it says "atem `ovrim bigevul acheichem bnei `Esav," meaning that even now you are taking Elul which at first was in Esav's portion, "ve'yire'u mikem," and therefore in this month you need to guarded from the yetzer har`a which is called "me'od," in order that Edom not win, which is the letters of me`od. But "al titgaru bam" --- [do not] meet up and acquire their land, "ki lo eten lachem me'artzam" --- only until "`ad midrakh kaf regel", i.e. ”

“ And by this I explained bs"d the remez of the scripture "ben porat Yosef, ben porat `alei `ayin, banot tza`adah `alei shor/A charming son is Joseph, a son charming to the eye; women, [each one] strode along to see him" (Gen. 49:22) , for it is known what our Rabbis z"l wrote "lo hayu yamim tovim leYisrael ke'Tu Be'Av ukeyYom haKipurim shebahem bnot Yisrael yotz'ot vechulot bekeramim etc./there were no holidays among Yisrael like Tu Be'Av and Yom Kippur, when the Yisraelite maidens would go out and dance in the vineyards" etc. ”
