“ All flesh is grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass:φωνή λέγοντος βοήσον και είπα τι βοήσω πάσα σαρξ χόρτος και πάσα δόξα ανθρώπου ως άνθος χόρτου 7The grass withers, and the flower fades: but the word of our God abides for ever.εξηράνθη ο χόρτος και το άνθος εξέπεσε ότι πνεύμα θεού ενεφύσησεν εν αυτώ αληθώς ο χόρτος εστίν ο λαός 8O thou that bringest glad tidings to Zion, go up on the high mountain; lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest glad tidings to Jerusalem ”

“ I am the Lord God, that does all these things.εγώ ο κατασκευάσας φως και ποιήσας σκότος ο ποιών ειρήνην και κτίζων κακά εγώ κύριος ο θεός ο ποιών πάντα ταύτα 8Let the heaven rejoice from above, and let the clouds rain righteousness: let the earth bring forth, and blossom with mercy, and bring forth righteousness likewise: I am the Lord that created thee.ευφρανθήτω ο ουρανός άνωθεν και αι νεφέλαι ρανάτωσαν δικαιοσύνην ανατειλάτω η γη και βλαστήσατω έλεος και δικαιοσύνην βλαστησάτω άμα εγώ ειμι κύριος ο κτίσας σε 9What excellent thing have I prepared as clay of the potter? ”

“ Chapter 64 1If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt,εάν ανοίξης τον ουρανόν τρόμος λήψεται από σου όρη και τακήσονται 2as wax melts before the fire; and fire shall burn up the enemies, and thy name shall be manifest among the adversaries: at thy presence the nations shall be troubled,ως κηρός από πυρός τήκεται και κατακαύσει πυρ τους υπεναντίους και φανερόν έσται το όνομά σου εν τοις υπεναντίοις από προσώπου σου έθνη ταραχθήσονται 3whenever thou shalt work gloriously ”

“ I will exact of thee due vengeance, I will no longer deliver thee to men.ανακαλυφθήσεται η αισχύνη σου φανήσονται οι ονειδισμοί σου το δίκαιον εκ σου λήψομαι ουκέτι μη παραδώ ανθρώποις 4Thy deliverer is the Lord of hosts, the Holy One of Israel is his name.ο ρυσάμενός σε κύριος σαβαώθ όνομα αυτώ άγιος Ισραήλ 5Sit thou down pierced with woe, go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: thou shalt no more be called the strength of a kingdom.κάθισον κατανενυγμένη είσελθε εις το σκότος θύγατερ Χαλδαίων ουκέτι μη κληθής ισχύς βασιλείας 6I have been provoked with my people ”

“ Has the earth travailed in one day? or has even a nation been born at once, that Sion has travailed, and brought forth her children?τις ήκουσε τοιούτο και τις εώρακεν ούτως ει ώδινε γη εν μία ημέρα η και ετέχθη έθνος εισάπαξ ότι ώδινε και έτεκε Σιών τα παιδία αυτής 9But I have raised this expectation, yet thou hast not remembered me, saith the Lord: behold, have not I made the bearing and barren woman? ”

“ Have the gods of the nations delivered each one his own land out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians?μη απατάτω υμάς Εζεκίας λέγων ο θεός ρύσεται ημάς μη ερρύσαντο οι θεοί των εθνών έκαστος την εαυτού χώραν εκ χειρός βασιλέως Ασσυρίων 19Where is the god of Emath, and Arphath? ”

“ If ye can give an offering for sin, your soul shall see a long-lived seed:και κύριος βούλεται καθαρίσαι αυτόν της πληγής εάν δώτε περί αμαρτίας την ψυχηήν υμών όψεται σπέρμα μακρόβιον 11the Lord also is pleased to take away from the travail of his soul, to shew him light, and to form him with understanding; to justify the just one who serves many well ”

“ I am God, and there is not another beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none but me.οι αναγγέλουσιν εγγισάτωσαν ίνα γνώσιν άμα τις ακουστά εποίησε ταύτα απ ́ αρχής εκ τότε αναγγελλεί υμίν ουχί εγώ κύριος ο θεός ουκ έστιν άλλος πλην εμού δίκαιος και σωτήρ ουκ έστι παρεξεμού 22Turn ye to me, and ye shall be saved, ye that come from the end of the earth: I am God, and there is none other.επιστράφητε επ ́ εμέ και σωθήσεσθε οι απ ́ εσχάτου της γης εγώ ειμι ο θεός και ουκ έστιν άλλος 23By myself I swear, righteousness shall surely proceed out of my mouth ”

“ Come hither, ye women that come from a sight; for it is a people of no understanding; therefore he that made them shall have no pity upon them, and he that formed them shall have no mercy upon them.και μετά πολύν χρόνον ουκ έσται εν αυτή παν χλωρόν διά το ξηρανθήναι γυναίκες ερχόμεναι από θέας δεύτε ου γαρ λαός εστιν έχων σύνεσιν διά τούτο ου οικτειρήση ο ποιήσας αυτούς ουδέ ο πλάσας αυτούς ου ελεήση 12And it shall come to pass in that day that God shall fence men off from the channel of the river as far as Rhinocorura ”

“ I will trust in him, and not be afraid: for the Lord is my glory and my praise, and is become my salvation.ιδού ο θεός μου σωτήρ μου πεποιθώς έσομαι επ ́ αυτού και ου φοβηθήσομαι διότι η δόξα μου και η αίνεσίς μου κύριος και εγένετό μοι εις σωτηρίαν 3Draw ye therefore water with joy out of the wells of salvation.και αντλήσατε ύδωρ μετ ́ ευφροσύνης εκ των πηγών του σωτηρίου 4And in that day thou shalt say, sing to the Lord, call aloud upon his name, proclaim his glorious deeds among the Gentiles ”

“ Chapter 11 1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the root of Jesse, and a blossom shall come up from his root:και εξελεύσεται ράβδος εκ της ρίζης Ιεσσαί και άνθος εκ της ρίζης αυτού αναβήσεται 2and the Spirit of God shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and godliness shall fill him;και αναπαύσεται επ ́ αυτόν πνεύμα κυρίου πνεύμα σοφίας και συνέσεως πνεύμα βουλής και ισχύος πνεύμα γνώσεως και ευσεβείας 3the spirit of the fear of God. ”

“ Let now the astrologers of the heaven stand and deliver thee, let them that see the stars tell thee what is about to come upon thee.κεκοπίακας εν ταις βουλαίς σου στήτωσαν δη και σωσάτωσάν σε οι αστρολόγοι του ουρανού οι ορώντες τους αστέρας αναγγειλάτωσάν σοι τι μέλλει έρχεσθαι επί σε 14Behold, they all shall be burnt up as sticks in the fire; neither shall they at all deliver their life from the flame. ”

“ I will not give my glory to another, nor my praises to graven images.εγώ κύριος ο θεός τούτό μου εστί το όνομα την δόξαν μου ετέρω ου δώσω ουδέ τας αρετάς μου τοις γλυπτοίς 9Behold, the ancient things have come to pass, and so will the new things which I tell you: yea, before I tell them they are made known to you.τα απ ́ αρχής ιδού ήκασι και καινά α εγώ αναγγελώ και προ του αναγγείλαι εδηλώθη υμίν 10Sing a new hymn to the Lord: ye who are his dominion, glorify his name from the end of the earth: ye that go down to the sea, and sail upon it ”

“ Sion is filled with judgment and righteousness.άγιος ο θεός ο κατοικών εν ουρανοίς ενεπλήσθη Σιών κρίσεως και δικαιοσύνης 6They shall be delivered up to the law: our salvation is our treasure: there are wisdom and knowledge and piety toward the Lord ”

“ The virgin daughter of Sion has despised thee, and mocked thee; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at thee.ούτος ο λόγος ον ελάλησε περί αυτού ο θεός εφαύλισέ σε και εμυκτήρισέ σε παρθένος θυγάτηρ Σιών επί σοι κεφαλήν εκίνησε θυγάτηρ Ιερουσαλήμ 23Whom hast thou reproached and provoked? and against whom hast thou lifted up thy voice? and hast thou not lifted up thine eyes on high against the Holy One of Israel?τίνα ωνείδισας και παρώξυνας η προς τίνα ύψωσας την φωνήν σου και ήρας εις ύψος τους οφθαλμούς σου προς τον άγιον του Ισραήλ 24For thou hast reproached the Lord by messengers ”

“ I will be like the Most High.αναβήσομαι επάνω των νεφελών έσομαι όμοιος τω υψίστω 15But now thou shalt go down to hell, even to the foundations of the earth.νυν δε εις άδην καταβήση και εις τα θεμέλια της γης 16They that see thee shall wonder at thee, and say, This is the man that troubled the earth, that made kings to shake;οι ιδόντες σε θαυμάσουσιν επί σοι και ερούσιν ούτος ο άνθρωπος ο παροξύνων την γην ο σείων βασιλείς 17that made the whole world desolate, and destroyed its cities ”

“ Learn to hear,όταν παρέλθη λήψεται υμάς πρωϊ πρωϊ παρελεύσεται υμάς και εν νυκτί έσται ελπίς πονηρά μάθετε ακούειν 20ye that are distressed; we cannot fight, but we are ourselves too weak for you to be gathered.στενοχωρούμενοι ου δυνάμεθα μάχεσθαι αυτοί δε ασθενούμεν του υμάς συναχθήναι 21The Lord shall rise up as a mountain of ungodly men, and shall be in the valley of Gabaon ”

“ They that trust on the Egyptians for horse and rider, are our servants.και πως δύνασθε αποστρέψαι εις πρόσωπον των τοπαρχών οικέται εισίν οι πεποιθότες επ ́ Αιγυπτίοις εις ίππον και αναβάτην 10And now, Have we come up against this land to fight against it without the Lord? The Lord said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.και νυν μη άνευ κυρίου ανέβημεν επί την χώραν ταύτην πολεμήσαι αυτήν κύριος είπε προς με ανάβηθι επί την γην ταύτην και διάφθειρον αυτήν 11Then Eliakim and Somnas and Joach said to him, Speak to thy servants in the Syrian tongue ”

“ Who is beyond it? a nation not looked for, and trodden down.ο αποστέλλων εν θαλάσση όμηρα και επιστολάς βιβλίνας επάνω του ύδατος πορεύσονται γαρ άγγελοι κούφοι προς έθνος μετέωρον και ξένον λαόν και χαλεπόν τις εστίν επέκεινα έθνος ανέλπιστον και καταπεπατημένον νυν οι ποταμοί της γης πάντες 3Now all the rivers of the land shall be inhabited as an inhabited country; their land shall be as when a signal is raised from a mountain ”

“ Chapter 43 1And now thus saith the Lord God that made thee, O Jacob, and formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.και νυν ούτως λέγει κύριος ο θεός ο ποιήσας σε Ιακώβ και ο πλάσας σε Ισραήλ μη φοβού ότι ελυτρωσάμην σε εκάλεσά σε το όνομά σου εμός ει συ 2And if thou pass through water, I am with thee; and the rivers shall not overflow thee: and if thou go through fire, thou shalt not be burned ”

“ Chapter 16 1I will send as it were reptiles on the land: is not the mount of the daughter of Sion a desolate rock?αποστελώ αμνόν κυριεύοντα επί την γην μη πέτρα έρημός εστι το όρος της θυγατρός Σιών 2For thou shalt be as a young bird taken away from a bird that has flown: even thou shalt be so, daughter of Moab: and then do thou, O Arnon,έση γαρ ως πετεινού ανιπταμένου νεοσσός αφηρημένος θυγάτηρ Μωάβ έπειτα δε Αρνών 3take farther counsel, and continually make thou a shelter from grief: they flee in darkness at mid-day; they are amazed ”

“ I stretched out the heaven alone, and established the earth.ούτω λέγει κύριος ο λυτρούμενός σε και πλάσσων σε εκ κοιλίας εγώ κύριος ο συντελών πάντα εξέτεινα τον ουρανόν μόνος και εστερέωσα την γην 25Who else will frustrate the tokens of those that have divining spirits, and prophecies from the heart of man? ”

“ Chapter 24 1Behold, the Lord is about to lay waste the world, and will make it desolate, and will lay bare the surface of it, and scatter them that dwell therein.ιδού κύριος καταφθείρει την οικουμένην όλην και ερημώσει αυτήν και ανακαλύψει το πρόσωπον αυτής και διασπερεί τους ενοικούντας εν αυτή 2And the people shall be as the priest, and the servant as the lord, and the maid as the mistress ”

“ They shall be fed in all the ways, and in all the paths shall be their pasture.λέγοντα τοις εν δεσμοίς εξέλθετε και τοις εν τω σκότει ανακαλυφθήναι εν πάσαις ταις οδοίς βοσκηθήσονται και εν πάσαις ταις τρίβοις η νομή αυτών 10 They shall not hunger, neither shall they thirst; neither shall the heat nor the sun smite them ”

“ Because thou hast coals of fire, sit thou upon them;ιδού πάντες ως φρύγανα επί πυρί κατακαυθήσονται και ου εξέλωνται την ψυχήν αυτών εκ φλογός ότι έχεις άνθρακας πυρός κάθισαι επ ́ αυτούς 15these shall be thy help. ”

“ Galilee shall be laid bare, and Chermel.επένθησεν η γη ησχύνθη ο Λίβανος έλη εγένετο ο Σαρών φανερά έσται η Γαλιλαία και ο Κάρμελος 10Now will I arise, saith the Lord, now will I be glorified; now will I be exalted.νυν αναστήσομαι λέγει κύριος νυν δοξασθήσομαι νυν υψωθήσομαι 11Now shall ye see, now shall ye perceive; the strength of your breath, shall be vain; fire shall devour you.νυν όψεσθε νυν αισθηθήσεσθε ματαία έσται η ισχύς του πνεύματος υμών πυρ κατεδέται υμάς 12And the nations shall be burnt up ”

“ I will no more pardon your sins.νηστείαν και αργίαν και τας νουμηνίας υμών και τας εορτάς υμών μισεί η ψυχή μου εγενήθητέ μοι εις πλησμονήν ουκέτι ανήσω τας αμαρτίας υμών 15When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn away mine eyes from you: and though ye make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.όταν εκτείνητε τας χείρας αποστρέψω τους οφθαλμούς μου αφ ́ υμών και εάν πληθύνητε την δέησιν ουκ εισακούσομαι υμών αι γαρ χείρες υμών αίματος πλήρεις 16Wash you, be clean ”

“ I will now amaze and wither at once.εσιώπησα απ ́ αιώνος μη και αεί σιωπήσομαι και ανέξομαι ως η τίκτουσα εκαρτέρησα εκστήσω και ξηρανώ άμα 15I will make desolate mountains and hills, and will dry up all their grass; and I will make the rivers islands, and dry up the pools.ερημώσω όρη και βουνούς και πάντα τον χόρτον αυτών ξηρανώ και θήσω ποταμούς εις νήσους και έλη ξηρανώ 16And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, and I will cause them to tread paths which they have not known: I will turn darkness into light for them, and crooked things into straight. ”

“ Ye shall no more tread my court.ουδ ́ αν έρχησθε οφθήναί μοι τις γαρ εξεζήτησε ταύτα εκ των χειρών υμών πατείν την αυλήν μου ου προσθήσεσθε 13Though ye bring fine flour, it is vain; incense is an abomination to me; I cannot bear your new moons, and your sabbaths, and the great day;εάν φέρητε σεμίδαλιν μάταιον θυμίαμα βδέλυγμά μοι εστί τας νουμηνίας υμών και τα σάββατα και ημέραν μεγάλην ουκ ανέχομαι 14your fasting, and rest from work, your new moons also, and your feasts my soul hates: ye have become loathsome to me ”
