Max Abraham, Translation:On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies (1909)
“ We have emphasized the illustrative meaning of vectors in Lorentz's theory, i.e., as being the contribution of the aether at the electric and magnetic excitation. In the theory of Minkowski, the vectors which connect and with each other, have no such illustration. There is also no reason, when one takes the standpoint of the relativity principle, to speak about the aether and its electromagnetic properties. ”
