“ How can an axe boast that it cuts wood when it has no life—when it was the woodsman's power that cut the wood?” Because the Assyrian king will boast like a lifeless axe, the Lord of Hosts will starve his followers and cause his glory to go up in smoke.
The light of Israel will call down fire and the Lord will bring down flames. In a single day, the oppressors will be burned like thorn bushes. The fire will consume the Assyrian king and his glory--his armies and the wicked throughout the earth, both body and soul. ”

“ The Lord says, “All the proud who do wickedly will be burned. Those who kill the prophets and saints will be swallowed up by the earth and mountains will cover them. Tornadoes will carry them away, and earthquakes will cause buildings to crush them, grinding them to powder. They will be visited with thunder, lightning, earthquakes and all types of destruction, for the Lord’s angry fire will burn them like kindling.” Oh the pain and anguish of my soul for the loss of my people that will perish! For I, Nephi, have seen their destruction, which almost consumes me before the Lord's presence. ”

“ Many will go and hide in the cracks of the rocks and in caves because the fear of the Lord will come upon them. The glory of His majesty will smite them when He rises to terribly shake the earth. In that day, a man will throw gold and silver idols he's made for himself to the moles and bats.
Again, many will hide in the holes of the rocks and in the tops of the tagged rocks as the fear of the Lord comes upon them. The majesty of His glory will smite them when He comes to terribly shake the earth. ”

“ Having seen so many great things, and knowing the Lord visits His children in mercy,
why should my heart and soul continue in sorrow and the strength of my spirit weaken in despair? Why should I let the devil continue to afflict my soul, to destroy my peace and have a place in my heart? Why am I angry with myself and the devil because of the weakness of my flesh, which has given in to temptation and sinned? Awake, my soul! ”

“ You will know at the last day, when we are all judged by our works, that after I preached the gospel of Christ to you, the God of Israel witnessed that I shook your sins from my soul. Then I will stand before Him, resurrected with brightness, and will not be responsible for your sins.
Turn from your sins. Shake off the chains of the devil, who wishes to bind you down. Come to that God who is the rock of your salvation. Prepare your souls for that glorious day--the day of judgment--when justice will be administered to the righteous. ”

“ Whoever was happy, being righteous on earth, will still be happy in his righteousness. And whoever was unhappy, being wicked on earth, will remain unhappy, and will still be wicked.
To those who have imagined a god who cannot do miracles, I ask, have all the miracles I have mentioned come to an end? No, for God has not stopped being a God of miracles.
Are not the things that God has done marvelous to our eyes? Yes, and who can comprehend His marvelous works? Who can say that the creation of the heavens, of the earth, and of Adam and Eve, all from the dust and by His word, are not miracles? ”

“ We search the prophets' writings and have many revelations in the spirit of prophecy. With all these witnesses, we have hope.
Our faith becomes so strong we can command the trees, the mountains and the ocean in the name of Jesus, and they obey us.
But the Lord shows us our weaknesses so we may know it's by His grace and great kindness to His people that we have this power.
The Lord's works are great and marvelous! How deep His mysteries are! It's impossible for people to know all His ways, and no one knows His ways without revelation. This is why you should not despise revelation from God. ”

“ For the Lord says, I, the Lord, am He who will comfort you, oh house of Israel.
Now why should you be afraid of men, who will wither as the summer grass? And how can you forget the Lord, who created you, the heavens and the earth? How can you fear even a furious oppressor, as if he could destroy you? ”

“ After four generations, you, my descendants, will sell yourselves for nothing.
The reward for your pride and foolishness will be destruction. Because you will give way to the devil and choose his works of darkness rather than light, you must go down to hell. For the Spirit will not always stay with you. When the Spirit leaves you, your destruction will come quickly, and this grieves my soul.
Just as the Jews need to be convinced that Jesus is the very Christ, the Gentiles must also be convinced that He is the Christ, the Eternal God. ”

“ Now in spite of all the care we have given to my earth, all the people in it have become corrupt.
I had hoped to save them--to have preserved their souls to myself before the last day. But look at them. They have all become like wild olive trees, good only for burning. Losing all of them grieves me.
What more could I have done? Have I ever stopped nourishing my vineyard? (Sending prophets, giving scriptures to the people, etc.) . It grieves me to cut down all the trees of my vineyard and burn them. ”

“ After all you've seen, how can you rebel against the Lord's word? Have you forgotten you've seen an angel? Have you forgotten how the Lord delivered us from Laban, and how we obtained the brass plates from his treasury? Can't you see by now that the Lord can do anything for His children who have faith in Him? ”

“ Fools mock, but they will mourn, and my grace is sufficient for the meek who will not take advantage of your weakness. To those who come to me, I will show them their weakness. I give people weaknesses to humble them.
My grace is sufficient for all who humble themselves and have faith in me, for I will turn their weaknesses into strengths I will show the Gentiles their weakness, and that faith, hope and charity will bring their souls to me--the fountain of all righteousness. ”

“ Then he said, "The virgin you see is the earthly mother of the Son of God."
I saw her carried away in the Spirit. After she had been carried away in the Spirit for some time, the angel said to me, "Look!"
I looked and saw the virgin holding a child in her arms.
Then the angel said, "See the Lamb of God, even the Son of the Eternal Father! Now do you know the meaning of the tree?"
"Yes," I answered. "The tree represents God's love which may fill the hearts of all His children, and it is worth more than anything!"
"Yes," said the angel, "And God's love is the most joyous thing to the soul! ”

“ All the kings of the nations lie in tombs among their kindred, but you are not given a grave. Your body is like the remains of those killed by the sword, thrown into a gravel pit after being trampled.
You will not even be buried with those slaughtered in battle because you have destroyed your land and have killed your people.

“ We would be controlled forever by that being who deceived our first parents, who made himself appear to be an angel of light, and who inspires people to create all types of secret combinations, murder and works of darkness. ”

“ Adam chose to fall from his state of innocence in order to have children with Eve.
And even in this fallen world, their children are meant to have joy.
For the Messiah will come in the fullness of time to redeem all of Adam and Eve's children from the fall. Being redeemed from the fall, we are free forever....free to act for ourselves.
We will only be acted upon at the great and last day, when we will suffer for the sins of which we did not repent.
In this life we are free to choose captivity and spiritual death according to the power of the devil, and join him in his misery. ”

“ May God raise you from death by the power of the resurrection. May He also raise you from spiritual death by the power of the atonement, that you may be received into His eternal kingdom and praise Him through divine grace. ”

I said, "Then you do not understand them, Sherem, because they truly testify of Christ. None of the prophets have written or prophesied without speaking of Christ.
I have seen and heard Christ in vision, and by the power of the Holy Ghost it has been made known to me that if no atonement were made everyone would be lost."
Sherem replied, "Show me a sign by the power of this Holy Ghost, whom you know so much about." ”

“ You would be more miserable living with a holy and just God, being aware of your filthiness, than you would living with the damned souls of hell. For when you realize how exposed your soul is before God in His glory, and realize the holiness of Jesus Christ, your soul will be filled with a flame of unquenchable fire. ”

“ Over all of Zion, and over her solemn assemblies, the Lord will form a cloud of smoke by day and a shining fire by night.
The glory of Zion will be a refuge and defense for all the righteous. And a tabernacle will shelter them from all the elements. ”

Oh the wisdom of God, His mercy and grace! For if we were to die, never to rise again, then our spirits would become subject to the devil, who fell from the presence of the Eternal God, never to rise again.
For without bodies, our spirits would become devils--angels to a devil, shut out from our God's presence, and remain in misery with the father of lies. ”

“ The people of Jerusalem will be scourged by all nations for crucifying the God of Israel, and for rejecting His signs, wonders, power and glory. They will be defamed and hated among all nations. They will wander and perish for despising the Holy One of Israel, for turning their hearts from Him. ”

“ Our family is of the house of Israel, for our father discovered that we are descendants of Joseph.
We are like a natural branch, broken off an olive tree, to be planted in the promised land.
The joining again of the natural branch to the olive tree is compared to our people who will receive the fullness of the gospel in the last days. They will receive it from the Gentiles (Latter-day Saints) many generations after the Messiah will have shown Himself to their forefathers, and many generations after they have faltered in unbelief. ”

“ I have feared that the anger of the Lord your God will come upon you and cut you off from His presence forever -- that a curse will come upon you for many generations -- that your descendants will be visited by the sword or famine -- that they will be hated by many and be led as captives of the devil. ”

“ For judgments will fall upon those secret combinations, and upon those who build them up, because those who have been murdered by them will cry from the dust for vengeance.
Those who build up secret combinations seek to overthrow freedom in all lands, nations, and countries, and to bring about the destruction of all people. ”

“ I know that except for a few of you, you are all proud, wearing fine clothes, envying, contending with and persecuting one another.
Every one of your churches has become polluted because of your pride.
You love money and the things you own.
You love fine clothing and adorning your churches more than you love the poor, the needy, the sick and afflicted among you.
Oh you polluted, hypocritical teachers who sell yourselves for nothing! ”

“ Look at these stones I smelted out of the rock.
I know, oh Lord, that Thou has all power, and can do whatever Thou will for the benefit of man. So touch these stones, oh Lord, with thy finger, and make them shine in the barges as we cross the sea. ”

“ All my life, God's power has compelled me to preach and prophesy to this people. I have declared the word according to the truth in Christ, and I have rejoiced in His word more than anything in the world. ”
