“ Unless the Chief Executive in Council otherwise permits, a majority of those directors of the Corporation who are not additional directors appointed under section 8 must be persons ordinarily resident in Hong Kong. ”

“ If the Chairman of the Board is absent from Hong Kong or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his office as Chairman, the Chief Executive may appoint another appointed member of the Board to be the temporary Chairman in his place during his absence or incapacity. ”

“ The Chief Executive in Council may, by order published in the Gazette, exempt—
(a) a specified agreement or a specified class of agreement from the application of the first conduct rule; or (b) specified conduct or a specified class of conduct from the application of the second conduct rule, if he or she is satisfied that it is appropriate to do so, in order to avoid a conflict between this Ordinance and an international obligation that directly or indirectly relates to Hong Kong. ”

“ If the Chief Executive, whether in Hong Kong or elsewhere, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, solicits or accepts any advantage as an inducement to or reward for or otherwise on account of his— (a) performing or abstaining from performing, or having performed or abstained from performing, any act in his capacity as the Chief Executive ”

“ Section 53 is amended by repealing “Crown in any capacity, whether naval, military, air force or civil” and substituting “Government in any capacity, or be a member of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army”.
Protected Places (Safety) Ordinance
78. Power for the Chief Executive to authorize any person to act as an authorized guard
Section 3 (2) of the Protected Places (Safety) Ordinance (Cap. 260) is amended by repealing “Her Majesty’s armed forces” and substituting “the Hong Kong Garrison”. ”

“ The United States stands with the people of Hong Kong in their ongoing pursuit of freedom and democracy. The 11 individuals designated today have implemented policies directly aimed at curbing freedom of expression and assembly, and democratic processes, and are subsequently responsible for the degradation of Hong Kong’s autonomy. The United States will use the authorities in the Executive Order to continue to pursue those that implement these nefarious policies. ”

“ Key Findings The United States continues to have deep economic and cultural interests in Hong Kong. Cooperation between the U.S. government and the Hong Kong government remains, in many areas, broad, effective, and mutually beneficial. Certain actions by the Mainland Central Government during the period covered by this report were inconsistent with China’s commitment in the Basic Law to allow Hong Kong to exercise a high degree of autonomy. ”

“ The central government is determined to promote the development of democracy in the HKSAR in line with the region's realities, in ways that will help generate high-quality economic growth and improve quality of life. It is intended that this will also be a practical means of addressing the most troublesome and long-standing problems that beset Hong Kong society, so that economic and social progress will benefit every local resident in a fairer way, and that Hong Kong will maintain its status as an international financial, shipping and trade center. ”

“ It is more representative, with more balanced participation by all sectors of society. It thus better represents the overall and fundamental interests of Hong Kong as an international, pluralistic and highly-developed capitalist society, and it fully conforms to the constitutional status and realities of Hong Kong as a local administrative region under the direct jurisdiction of China's central government. ”
