Portrait of Fredrika Bremer Fredrika Bremer,  Life in the Old World (1860)

“ Luxuriant, green pasturages, with trees, bushes, and cattle, gleamed out high up among the mountains, above which glanced forth the glaciers. The lower we descend, the more we come into the region of summer. Portrait of Friedrich Schiller Friedrich Schiller,  Wilhelm Tell

In battle, the precedence of our own.

FURST. (gives Stauffacher his hand) .
Then take your place.
STAUFF.
Not I. Some older man.
HOFE.
Ulrich, the smith, is the most aged here.
MAUER.
A worthy man, but not a freeman; no!—
No bondman can be judge in Switzerland.
