Molokans

Definition and stakes

Walter Frederic Adeney,  The Greek and Eastern Churches (1908)

The Doukhobors have more mystical tendencies. Possibly they inherit ideas and influences from the Bogomiles, and so continue that tradition of Protestantism in the Eastern Church which was long cherished by the Paulicians in Armenia. As "champions of the Spirit" the Doukhobors are less bound to the letter of Scripture than the Molokans. Their doctrine of the indwelling Christ, so rich and fruitful when spiritually accepted, has been taken too literally by some of their people.

They said that the Russian Government treated them very badly, favouring the Molokans, and annoying the members of their religion and race. ”
