“ Oughtred says: [21] “this scandall . . . hath with them, to whom I am not knowne, wrought me much prejudice and disadvantage . .” Aubrey, [22] a friend of Oughtred, refers to Delamain “who was so sawcy to write against him” and remembers having seen “many yeares since, twenty or more good verses made” against Delamain. Another friend of Oughtred, William Robinson, who had seen some of Delamain’s publications, but not his Grammelogia IV, wrote in a letter to Oughtred, shortly before the appearance of the latter’s Epistle:

William—An Englishman

“ Griselda flared responsively, "it's the fighting spirit—and the Cause calling to us. I've been hearing the call getting louder and louder; we can't stand aside any longer, we haven't the right to stand aside. How can I—how dare I—rest and enjoy myself when, there are noble women struggling for freedom, suffering for freedom, keeping the flag flying——?"

Will E. Ingersoll,  Daisy Herself

“ Sir William had a large library, but seldom read books. He reserved his seats seasonally at the theatre, but seldom attended shows. Life itself was the novel he read and the drama he watched. A man who has those two things most people want most—money, and social prestige and power—and has remained so far unspoiled by having them, that he knows keenly and wisely wherein they are valuable and wherein worthless: such a man is apt to develop a humorous contempt for the book and drama as interpreters of life, when he compares chapter or act with his experience of the real thing. ”
