London School Board

Definition and stakes

Various,  Popular Science Monthly (1903)

“ London will gain immensely by this, though admirers of the London school board system will feel keenly any reversal of the old and ruinous policy of forcing higher grade elementary education into competition with pure secondary education. Anonymous,  The Extravagent Expenditure of the London School Board (1876)

The figures relating to the building of Schools show most conclusively that no less than a quarter of a million of money has already been unnecessarily expended. It becomes almost superfluous to compare the Board's with that of other bodies ”
